I CROSSFIT BECAUSE....
Doing so makes me feel like a badass and through experience I have learned that it is the best form of exercise if your interest lies in increasing both your aerobic capacity and your strength. I am able to deadlift close to 300lbs and I can run under a 23min 5k. I rode horses throughout grades 4-12 and did not play sports so I don’t think that’s doing too bad for a girl who never had any sort of athletic interest at an early age. The first time I used a squat rack was at CrossFit bond.
I HAVE BEEN CROSSFITTING HOW LONG....
6 years as of Feb 2020 and I purchased the gym, formerly CrossFit bond. in August of 2015.
I was a personal trainer at Golds Gym and I had heard that this “CrossFit” thing was really dangerous. I decided to give it try to see if this was really true. I searched for a CrossFit gym in town and stumbled upon CrossFit bond.
I’ll never forget my first Elements class at CrossFit bond. Ben Bowman, the former owner was my coach. He said to me that the days I didn’t want to show up because of the workout were the days I needed to. I’ll never forget that statement and I hear his little English voice saying it every time I want to skip a WOD.
I knew after my first Elements class that CrossFit was going to be a part of my life. After my 3rd class I purchased a gift card for my husband Todd to do Elements. We have both been CrossFitting ever since.
I COACH BECAUSE....
I love to help people live longer healthier lives and see them get better with their physical skills. Being directly involved with someone else’s success is a great feeling. What I have discovered with owning the gym is that I now have an even broader indirect platform to help people through the different programs that we run and the coaches that we have on staff. An owner only has so much reach, but empowering the people who are part of your team allows your passion and vision to be spread out and put into play thus touching so many more peoples lives.
MY FAVORITE MOVEMENTS ARE....
I like deadlifts and most things cardio. For some reason I was blessed with a really strong posterior chain :) and deadlifts I am very strong at for my size.
MY WEAKEST MOVEMENTS ARE….
How much room do I have to type??? Snatches, Wall Balls and push jerks are the top 3. Snatches and push jerks I feel super uncoordinated doing. I have a goal to snatch what I think is a heavy weight. If I don’t practice I’m not gonna get there and so far I haven’t put in the work - so we shall see.
Wall balls just suck!
MY FAVORITE JUNK FOOD IS....
Another question I need a lot of room for. I love pizza, I love nachos, I love Oreo cookies. I am the one who started our nutrition program and am 100% bought into it and all it stands for. With that said, I am human. Every now and then a few Oreos and some pizza isn’t going to hurt.
I’ve always been extremely health conscious and know that I can have a balance of 90% of the time I eat to live - 10% of the time I live to eat!
ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO ADD…
CrossFit has provided me with so many things in my life I don’t know if I would have otherwise encountered.
Some of my best friends have come from this sport. My niece is now a really good CrossFitter, learned how to eat and has lost a lot of weight doing it. My sister started working out too!
My passion for nutrition has provided me the opportunity to work for an amazing company called Healthy Steps Nutrition where again, my passion for nutrition and fitness is spread even broader. My role with HSN as a business mentor allows me to teach other gym owners, RD’s, and health care practices how to run nutrition programs legally in their facilities. We work on the business side of things as well as the nutrition coaching side of things. On a weekly basis I talk to dozens of people all over the world passionate about the same things I am who are helping their clients live longer healthier lives.
My whole family is now involved in CrossFit and I’m not gonna lie, when I can do more pull-ups and lift more weight than my oldest son - it feels pretty good. I’ll take it while I can!
I walked out into the garage just last night and the my two boys, Ethan and Paxton were both doing a CrossFit workout out together. It felt like a dream come true!
