About Coach

When I was a child I was not into sports at school, I rode horses. I did barrel racing, exercised race horses, and showed hunter jump. I taught riding lessons both at home to kids in the area interested in riding and also at a local stable where I kept my hunter jump horse. Despite the lack of interest in organized sports growing up, I loved to run and I would wake up early every day, drive to the school and run in the gym. My interest in running and exercise obviously continued to my adult life.

Turning Point

As I progressed further in life I worked at a lot of jobs and wasn't really happy with any of them. I would run every night after work and go to the gym but I didn't really know what I was doing in terms of getting stronger. I looked at all the fitness magazines and subscribed to one called Sweat RX. I found this picture of a girl I wanted to look like. I took it to the local Gold's Gym, spoke with a trainer, and said "I want to look like her". I hired the trainer that day and he taught me how to look like the picture. The first thing he said to me was "you are going to need to eat more and run less". Being the runner I was - that statement was a hard pill to swallow. Several months later I was well on my way to look like the picture and from that point forward I knew that helping people accomplish their fitness and nutrition goals was something I wanted to do.

Motivation & Passion

My mom had an eating disorder so when I organically found this passion for fitness and nutrition I knew there was a way for me to help people add these things into their life in a healthy way. There is so much information out there and a lot of times it's not good. People don't know how to get started with fitness and nutrition and they hear all this noise through social media like fad diet stuff and eat this, eat that; it can be very confusing. I have a platform now to help our community sort through the noise and become the healthiest they can be. My reach went from just me helping my clients to about 10 coaches helping a whole slew of clients. We have a nutrition program that helps 100s of people every year and trained coaches that are amazing at helping these people. We have found that accountability is the key to success. The clients that are consistent in the gym and check in with their nutrition coaches regularly are the ones making the biggest gains. Life is busy with kids, work, and all the things. But if we don't take care of ourselves, we aren't going to be able to take care of the people we love. Realizing that and doing something about it is key. My motivation is to help people understand that fitness doesn't have to be boring and nutrition doesn't have to be complicated. We all need to work out and eat right in order to live a long healthy life. Knowing that is half the battle and the other half is doing something about it.
